Polymer Colloids Research Interests and Expertise

• Synthesis and molecular characterization of novel surfactants: surfmers (polymerizable surfactants); photolabile surfactants, reactive surfactants.
• Emulsion polymerization using novel surfactants - emphasis on latex stability (added salts; freeze/thaw).
• Formation and polymerization of high internal phase emulsions (HIPES) to form low density PolyHIPES.
• Non-aqueous HIPES.
• Dispersion polycondensation - formation of novel spherical particulates: polybenzimidazoles, polyimides other thermally stable particulates.
• Suspension polymerization - styrene and methacrylate based systems. Incorporation of reactive functionalities and related chemical modification.
